How can Shelter address the issue of
Fast Fashion to Career Driven Millennials?

INSIGHT
Charity shops, like Shelter, can lose money from taking unsellable textile donations to be recycled and most of it is not suitable for recycling regardless.

Fast Fashion
is a habitual issue. Persuading consumers to mend old rather than buy new is one step in the right direction to reducing fast fashion consumption.

Career Driven Millennials
are extremely busy, so attending an extra curricular event has to be worth their while. Networking has proven to be beneficial to those who want to grow their career, but some are put off by the sterile, forced and formal environment they possess.

SOLUTION
Shelter Patchworking Event 2025 - Learning how to hand stitch and patchwork in an easy-going, non-judgemental setting, using a collection of unsellable textile donations supplied by Shelter Charity Shops. The networking aspect is more casual, as the hands-on activity takes the lead. All profits of the event will go to Shelter. It’s a very productive and worth-while evening of meeting new people, learning new skills, saving old textiles and even donating to charity.

Real photos were used to build the visual style of the campaign, with photos of my own amateurish patchwork
taking centre stage for the promotional content and subtly weaved (pun) into the web design, so as not to overpower Shelter’s original branding. As much as I wanted to go all out with merchandise, I felt it would have been hypocritical to the anti-consumption message, so I only designed two items which are both relevant and useful.
